Most laptops are for short-term loan, but a limited number are loanable for a semester at a time. Students and employees also have access to desktop computers at the Nanaimo, Cowichan, and tiwšɛmawtxw campuses. 

Follow these steps to borrow a laptop for 3 days:

1. Bring your VIU student card to the Library Service Desk at the Nanaimo or Cowichan campus.
2. Once per semester, sign a laptop loan agreement.
3. If a laptop is available, a library employee will check it out to you for up to 3 business days.
4. Return the laptop before the due date to an employee at the Library Service Desk to avoid late fees of $10/day.

Follow these steps to request a semester-length laptop loan:

1. Read the Semester laptop loans page.
2. Submit a request up to 1 semester in advance.
3. Read and respond to emails from the library to ensure you don't miss out on a semester laptop offer.
