How do I request a video for a classroom viewing?

Answer

Instructors hoping to show videos in their classes should first consult the Copyright Guide for Instructors section 'I would like to show a film or video in my course,' to confirm that the planned showing of the video does not break copyright.

Physical copies of videos that available within the VIU Library Collection can be placed on hold and borrowed for viewings the same way as other physical materials. They have a loan period of six weeks, and are renewable.

Streaming videos available within the VIU Library Collection can be linked to from VIU Learn courses for students to view. Ensure that the link to the video is a stable link by following our Stable Link Guide.

Videos that are not available within the VIU Library Collection may be able to be sourced from another institution. For help locating a video for classroom viewing, please contact Video Services via email at media@viu.ca. For video requests, please include the title of the video you are requesting, as well as the date that you are hoping to have the video available for viewing.
