How do I find physical materials (books, videos, etc) on the shelf?

All physical VIU Library materials are filed by a Library of Congress call number, which will be displayed in your search results as shown:
Call numbers are read from left to right, top to bottom, and begin alphabetically with the first line. The second line is read in numeric order, while the third line is alphabetical followed by decimal order (452 comes after 45 but before 46).
To find the item in the library, begin by finding the correct stack. Each stack has it's call number range labelled on its sides. For the example we're using, we would look for the stack with this call number range:
BD BF
418.3 - 408
A33 N52
Once in the correct stack, search for the start of the BF section, followed by BF 76, and so on, until the specific book is found.
